Bloomfield Girl Scouts Create Local ‘Little Free Pantry’

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A “Little Free Pantry” is now available in Bloomfield thanks to a local Girl Scout Troop.
Recently, Troop 20340 – which includes Bloomfield 5th and 6th graders – put up a pantry at Firehouse #3 at 144 East Passaic Avenue.
What is a Little Free Pantry? According to littlefreepantry.org:

“The LFP is for neighbors helping neighbors. In high-poverty areas, the LFP is most often for those who are not easily able to meet everyday food and personal needs. In middle class neighborhoods, the LFP might stock after-school snacks for neighborhood kids or that ‘cup of sugar’ you never have when you need it … In all places, the Little Free Pantry is for those who want and/or need to give.”
People who have a donation for the pantry can drop them off directly, email Troop20340@gmail.com, or drop them off at Shooting Star Dance Center during their normal business hours.
Congrats to the Junior Girl Scouts of Bloomfield Girl Scout Troop 20340 on receiving the Bronze Award for their project to install a Little Free Food Pantry in their community. My office was thrilled to be able to recognize them for their service at their bridging ceremony! pic.twitter.com/fmz39gLg9L
