Bloomfield Girl Scouts Host ‘Women In History’ Wax Museum

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A group of Bloomfield Girl Scouts recently paid tribute to Women’s History Month when they put on a “wax museum” event at the Bloomfield Civic Center.

According to a news release, Brookdale Jr. Girl Scout Troop 20668 presented the Women in History Wax Museum on Friday, March 31 at the Bloomfield Civic Center as part of a tribute to Women’s History Month.

Troop members each portrayed a woman who made a significant accomplishment before 2005, the earliest year the scouts were born. Featured in this Women’s History Month celebration were Cleopatra, Clara Barton, Harriet Tubman, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Alice Paul, Georgia O’Keefe, Edith Head, Amelia Earhart, Katherine Johnson, Jane Goodall, Hillary Clinton, Joan Jett, Queen Latifah and Whoopie Goldberg.

The goal of the project was to emphasize the “limitless opportunities that should be available to them in their futures,” as well as acknowledge those who paved the paths before them, organizers said.

The event was attended by their teachers, Mayor Michael Venezia, Brookdale Daisies and Brownies, and community and family members as well as representatives from the Girls Scouts Heart of New Jersey leadership.

Troop 20668’s Bronze Award will involve providing related resources to the Bloomfield Children’s Library. Anyone interested in donating toward this project can email the troop at: troop20668@gmail.com.

Troop Leaders Dani Kennedy and Jennifer Laino thanked to the staff at the Bloomfield Children’s Library and the Bloomfield Recreation Department for contributing toward the success of the event.
