Bloomfield Home Burglarized, $20K In Cash Lost: Police

A Bloomfield man lost 20 envelopes that contained more than $20,000 in cash during a daytime home burglary on Harrison Street, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield man lost 20 envelopes that contained more than $20,000 in cash during a daytime home burglary on Harrison Street last week, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the victim told officers that he left home at 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 16 to go shopping. When he got back at 9:35 a.m., he found that his home had been burglarized.

Inside the residence, police found a bedroom “ransacked” and a dresser with its drawers rummaged through. Altogether, 20 envelopes containing $20,400 in cash were missing, the victim said.

Police said that the intruder likely made their entrance through a shattered rear door in the home.

Bloomfield police are investigating the incident, authorities said.
