Bloomfield Homeowners Will Get Late Tax Bills (Here’s Why)
Bloomfield residents got a little "grace" from town officials when it comes to preparing their 2018 tax bills.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield residents recently got a little “grace” from town officials when it comes to preparing their yearly tax bills.
Earlier this month, the Bloomfield Tax Collector’s Office stated that it plans to mail bills to residents by Friday, Aug. 10, a departure from years past, when residents have gotten their bills by June or July. But if you’re a local homeowner who needs the standard four weeks to prep your bank account, don’t worry, officials said… there will be a grace period that extends until Sept. 7.
According to a municipal news release:

“This year, the finalized number for tax bills was delayed due to the late adoption of the New Jersey state budget, which delayed the Bloomfield Board of Education’s school funding process. At their July 24th meeting, the BOE elected to defer additional state funding to the 2019-2020 school year.”
Bloomfield municipal officials stated:
“Residents will have a full four weeks to pay their tax bills in person at the Township of Bloomfield Tax Collector’s Office, located in room 106 of the municipal building at 1 Municipal Plaza, Bloomfield. The grace period will extend until September 7, and the Tax Collector’s Office will hold early hours during the week of August 13 to August 17, opening at 8 a.m. for residents who want to pay their bills before going to work. If more residents show up early in the morning than any other time, the office will likely open even earlier the next week. The office remains open until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.”
Residents with any questions can call the Bloomfield Tax Collector’s Office at 973-680-4049.
