BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police temporarily evacuated the IHOP on Bloomfield Avenue after the restaurant got a bomb threat via phone Thursday night, authorities said.
The threat was called into the IHOP at 7:10 p.m. The caller said that he placed a bomb at the IHOP “several days ago” and planned to detonate it, according to Bloomfield Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio.
Bloomfield police evacuated the building and created a perimeter with road closures and detours. At that point, the Essex County Sherriff’s Office bomb K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a sweep.
