Police Blotter: June 9 to 16

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Bloomfield police blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
6/09/2015 – The owner of a 2003 Saab reported to police that two months ago he gave his vehicle to a mechanic in Elizabeth to have engine work done. The victim has been unable to get in touch with the mechanic since.
6/10/2015 – Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue on possible burglary. Investigators responded and viewed surveillance video which showed that an older male, wearing a dark colored shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap approached the front door of a building and tried to open it. The suspect then went to rear parking lot and removed a red craftsman jigsaw valued at approximately $80.00 from the rear of a pick-up truck and walked away towards Bloomfield Avenue.

6/10/2015 – Stop & Shop Loss Prevention personnel reported that a customer left a wallet on the counter at register #13. The wallet was subsequently went missing. Loss Prevention was able to find video revealing that a male and a female took the wallet after it was left behind and exited the store.
6/10/2015 – Calvin Pierce age 22 from East Orange was arrested by Officers Ana Ruiz and Matthew Rubbinaccio at 12:59 am on Arlington Avenue after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of active warrants out of The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department and Mays Landing. Pierce was processed and turned over to the custody of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.

6/10/2015 – Gail Mobbley age 48 was arrested by Anti-Crime Unit Officers Thomas Lutz and Luca Piscitelli at 11:30 am on the property of 8 Franklin Street after an investigation led to the discovery of active warrants out of Bloomfield, $250.00 and Elizabeth, $100.00. During the arrest process Mobbley was also found to be in possession of an item believed by the officers to be used as drug paraphernalia. Mobbley was processed, charged and being detained on $500.00 bail set by the Honorable Judge John Paparazzo.
6/10/2015 – Michelle Bermudez age 30 from Belleville was arrested by Anti-Crime Unit Officers Thomas Lutz and Luca Piscitelli at 3:48 pm on Kimball Street after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of an active $500.00 Bloomfield warrant. Bermudez was processed and released with a court date pending after posting bail.
6/10/2015 – Scott Puryear age 58 from Newark was arrested by Officer Jannor Navarro at 7:31 pm on Belleville Avenue, after an investigation into a suspicious parked vehicle led to the discovery of an active $20.00 warrant out of Newark. Puryear was processed and released ROR.
6/10/2015 – Sharaine Davis age 21 from East Orange was arrested by Officer Frank Falco at 10:33 pm on the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of a $250.00 active warrant out of East Orange. Davis was processed and released after posting bail.
6/11/2015 – Rayford Farrar age 46 from Belleville was arrested by Officer Jonathan Donker at 12:50 pm on Edison Street after an investigation into a suspicious person trespassing on private property, led to the discovery of items in his possession that were believed to be drug paraphernalia. Ferrar was released ROR after being processed and charged with Possession of drug paraphernalia and Possession of a hypodermic needle.
6/11/2015 – Joelle Joseph age 34 from East Orange was arrested by Officer JoVincent Emperio at 7:14 pm on Westinghouse Plaza after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of an active $250.00 Bloomfield warrant. Joseph was processed and released with a court date pending after posting bail.
6/11/2015 – Jermaine Thompson age 39 from East Orange was arrested by Officer Timothy Kealy at 9:55 pm on the 100 block of Ampere Parkway after a motor vehicle stop led to the discovery of an active $250.00 warrant out of Newark. Thompson was processed and released after posting bail.
6/11/2015 – A business owner on the 200 block of N. 16th Street reported that a JBL speaker valued at $35.00 was shoplifted from his store. The victim reported that 4 males exited a gold colored Nissan with tinted windows and entered the store at different times. The first male, wearing a white T-shirt black pants with a white striped rag around his neck, in his 20’s enters the store with a second male in his 20’s, wearing his hat backwards, shorts and a white T-shirt. A third male comes in wearing a white tank top enters the store and begins to look at a speaker as the other two talk to the victim. When the victim turns around, one of the suspects grabs a speaker and heads south on N. 16th Street to the waiting car. As the vehicle drives away an employee runs up to the car and breaks out the driver’s side window. The vehicle fled west on Bloomfield Avenue. The other two males that were still in the store paid for an item, exited the store and left in an unknown direction.
6/11/2015 – On Clinton Street a 2013 Buick and a 2005 Chrysler were broken into overnight, while they were parked in a residential driveway. The incident occurred between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.
6/11/2015 – On the 200 block of Montgomery Street a 2014 Dodge was damaged sometime between 2:00 am and 7:30 am. Deep scratches were discovered by the vehicle owner on the passenger door and window.
6/11/2015 – Johnnie Hannah age 25 from Newark was arrested by Officers Nicolae Toader and Argenis Vargas at 11:15 pm, on the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue, after a motor vehicle stop led the Officers to believe that he was operating his 1999 Nissan while impaired. Hannah was processed and released with a court date pending after being issued summonses for: DWI, DWI with-in 1000 feet of a school, Open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and Improper parking.
6/12/2015 – Angel Aucacama Roto, age 26, from Newark, was arrested by Officer Michael Decker at 12:32 am on the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue, after a motor vehicle stop led Officer Decker to believe that Aucacama Roto had operated his 2003 Ford while impaired. Aucacama Roto was processed and released with a court date pending after being issued a summons for DWI.
6/12/2015 – On the lower end of Belleville Avenue a vehicle parked in a wooded area was found by the owner to have pavers and bricks thrown through all the windows.
6/12/2015 – Stephanie Molina age 21 from Newark was arrested by Officer Kenneth Batchelor at 1:46 pm after allegedly shoplifting approximately 449.00 worth of merchandise from the Stop & Shop located at 8 Franklin Street. Molina was processed charged with shoplifting and released ROR with a court date pending.
6/12/2015 – Detective Sergeant Thomas Fano and a team of Detectives and Anti-Crime Unit Officers set up surveillance on an area of Broad Street near James Street and the surrounding side streets. The surveillance was set up based on information that a burglary was going to be perpetrated that afternoon. At approximately 5:20 pm, an anonymous call came in and the Officers converged on an address on Osbourne Street with a tip that a residence was being burglarized. Officers Thomas Lutz and Matthew Popowicz arrived first on scene and located two suspects, identified as Pedro Garcia Vazquez age 32 from Newark and Angel Quinones age 29 from Newark, on the property in question. An interview and investigation led to evidence that an attempted burglary allegedly occurred and that both suspects were in possession of burglary tools. The suspects were subsequently placed under arrest transported to Police HQ’s, processed and charged with the following: Criminal attempt burglary, Conspiracy to commit burglary, Possession of burglary tools. Bail was set by the Honorable Judge John Paparazzo at $50,000.00 full and a court date is pending.
6/13/2015 – Cullen Murphy age 27 from Glen Ridge was arrested by Officer Hector Nunez at 9:49 am, on the 200 block of Glenwood Avenue, after an investigation into a suspicious parked vehicle, with two sleeping occupants led to the discovery that Murphy was a wanted person out of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. Murphy was processed and turned over to the custody of the Sheriff’s Department.
6/13/2015 – Uriel Aquino age 19 from Newark was arrested by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department and turned over to the custody of Officers Matthew Rubbinaccio and Ana Ruiz at 8:34 pm. At Bloomfield Police HQ’s Aquino was processed for an active $393.00 Bloomfield warrant and released ROR with a court date pending.
6/12/2015 – On the lower end of N. 16th Street a resident reported that earlier that day he had approximately $90.00 in his laptop case that was stored in his room. During the duration of the day the victim reported that he went to retrieve the money and discovered that it was gone.
6/13/2015 – The owner of a bicycle valued at approximately $300.00 reported that she left her bicycle unattended for approximately 6 hours in Foley Field and when she returned to pick it up it had been damaged beyond use.
6/13/2015 – A Loss Prevention Officer for a business located at 8 Franklin Street reported that at approximately 6:19 pm he reviewed the store surveillance system and noticed a male walk out of the store without paying for merchandise. The Loss Prevention Officer walked out of the store into the parking lot and witnessed the suspect enter a vehicle and drive away. The surveillance footage shows the suspect placing merchandise into a plastic bag and then storing the bag in a blood pressure machine located inside the store. The suspect then continues to fill plastic bags with proceeds and store the bags in the blood pressure machine. Then at approximately 6:05 pm the suspect retrieves the bags out of the blood pressure machine and walks out of the store. The suspect is described as being a male wearing glasses, a blue collar shirt, blue jeans, and a gray golf cap. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $103.50.
6/15/2015 – George Buckner age 55 from Bloomfield was arrested by Officer Jonathan Donker at 11:54 pm on Watsessing Avenue after an investigation led to the discovery of active warrants out of Belleville, $450.00 and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, no bail. Buckner was processed and turned over to the custody of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.
6/15/2015 – Leatrice Brewster age 45 from Newark was arrested by Officer Jonathan Donker at 1:49 pm, after allegedly shoplifting $561.90 worth of merchandise from the Stop & Shop. During the arrest process Brewster was also found to have an active $761.00 warrant out of South Plainfield. Bail was set at $7500.00 with a 10% cash option available by the Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone. Brewster was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending bail or a court appearance.
6/15/2015 – Randolph Floy age 32 from Bloomfield was arrested by Anti-Crime Unit Officer Thomas Lutz and Luca Piscitelli at 6:17 pm on N. 15th Street after an investigation led to the discovery of substances in his possession that were believed to be cocaine and marijuana. Floy was processed and charged with Possession of cocaine and Possession of marijuana. Bail was set by the Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone at $5000.00 with a 10% cash option available.
6/16/2015 – Nicholas Ward age 19 from Glen Ridge and Kyle Gorski age 18 from Glen Ridge were arrested by Officers Meljunn Pascua, Frank Falco and Teo Osis on Washington Street after an investigation led the Officers to believe that the two suspects were responsible for graffiti on mailboxes and stop signs in the area. Both suspects were taken into custody, processed, charged with the criminal mischief and released with court dates pending.
6/16/2015 – Anthony Gaeta age 22 from Bloomfield was arrested by East Orange Police and turned over to the custody of Officers Robert Peters and Pasquale Parisi an active Bloomfioeld warrant. Gaeta was processed and released ROR with a court date pending.
6/16/2015 – Angela Cacchio age 47 from Newark was arrested by Officer Robert Peters at 1:33 pm after allegedly shoplifting $144.93 worth of merchandise from the CVS, located at 250 Glenwood Avenue. Cacchio was also found to have active warrants out of West Orange, $208.00 and Nutley, $500.00. Cacchio was processed and being detained on $1000.00 bail with a 10% cash option available set by The Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone.
