Bloomfield Man Accused Of Armed Carjacking On North 15th Street
Police charged the Bloomfield man with unlawful possession of a weapon but were unable to recover a gun, authorities say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police arrested a 31-year-old local man after he allegedly committed an armed carjacking on Saturday, authorities say.
The victim told Bloomfield police that he was driving on North 15th Street on Saturday evening when a white van blocked his way. The driver of the van then allegedly walked over to the car and punched the victim’s passenger, then went back to his vehicle, parked it and returned with a gun.
The driver and passenger then got out of the car and fled the scene, leaving their vehicle behind, police said.

Bloomfield police later located the suspect - Humberto Nieves, 31, of Bloomfield – walking on the same street around 10:20 p.m. and placed him under arrest after the two victims positively identified him as their alleged assailant, authorities stated. Police were unable to recover a weapon, authorities said.
Authorities charged Nieves with carjacking and unlawful possession of a weapon. Nieves’s bail was set at $100,000.
