Bloomfield Man Accused Of Sex Assault In Hudson County: HCPO

A Bloomfield man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a party in Jersey City, prosecutors said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield man has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a party in Jersey City last week, authorities said.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, members of its Special Victims Unit arrested Olumuyiwa Olumodeji, 35, of Bloomfield, on Saturday.

Prosecutors allege that Olumodeji sexually assaulted a 24-year-old woman at a party on Manila Avenue in Jersey City on June 23.

Olumodeji has been charged with aggravated sexual assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(7), a crime of the first-degree and sexual assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1), a crime of the second degree, prosecutors said.

Olumodeji was also charged with aggravated assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(1), a crime of the second degree, for allegedly attempting to cause serious bodily injury to a male party attendee who tried to stop him from leaving the scene, prosecutors said.

Olumodeji was arrested at the prosecutor’s office in Jersey City shortly after 9 a.m. without incident, authorities said.
