Bloomfield Man Carjacked While Returning Home From Work: Police

A Bloomfield man told police that he was robbed and carjacked in front of his Chester Avenue home, authorities say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield man told police that he was robbed and carjacked in front of his Chester Avenue home last month, authorities say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the 56-year-old male told officers that he was returning home from work around 3:50 a.m. when three men dressed all in black – one armed with a handgun – approached him.

The man told officers that the armed suspect told him “don’t move” and pointed a gun to his head, police stated.

Authorities said that the other suspects then allegedly searched the man’s pockets and took his wallet, keys to his home and the keys to his 2007 Dodge Caravan, which had a tracking device installed. All three men then got into the vehicle and fled the scene, the victim said.

Police later recovered the stolen car in Newark, authorities said.
