BLOOMFIELD, NJ — What does Bloomfield have in common with Courage the Cowardly Dog and Elvis? The answer: writer Lory Lazarus.

Lazarus, a Bloomfield resident and a writer for the cult animated series "Courage, the Cowardly Dog," is one of the main contributors to “Attack of the Elvis Impersonators,” an off-Broadway musical that tells the story of a burnt-out, world-famous heavy metal icon who decides to save himself from self-destruction by impersonating Elvis.

Lazarus, the co-writer of more than 20 songs for the hit children's series “Barney and Friends,” collaborated with Broadway veteran Don Stephenson, choreographer Melissa Zaremba, music director Benjamin Rauhala, producer Lawrence Rosner and executive producer Ryan Conway on the new musical.
