A carjacker hit a Bloomfield resident with his own vehicle, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A carjacker hit a Bloomfield resident with his own vehicle before driving away last week, police said Wednesday.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to Hoover Avenue on Feb. 10 after getting a report about a carjacking.
The vehicle owner told police that he went into his home, taking his key fob with him but leaving the car running and unoccupied. When he returned, there was a man in the driver’s seat, authorities said.

Police said the stranger began backing the car out of the driveway, but the victim walked into the middle of Hoover Avenue towards the vehicle and the driver came to a stop.
The owner yelled to the suspect that the car would turn off because the key fob wasn’t inside. The carjacker then accelerated towards the victim and struck him in the left hip area before driving away, police said.
