Bloomfield Man Leads Cops On Chase, Crashes Near Belmont And Franklin
Bloomfield police arrested a local man after he led an officer on a car chase through town.

Bloomfield, NJ – Bloomfield police arrested a local man after he led an officer on an allegedly intoxicated car chase through town last week.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, an officer allegedly witnessed a red Mitsubishi traveling at a high rate of speed on Bloomfield Avenue around 3 a.m. on Feb. 19.
The driver – later identified as Sandy Espinosa, 22, of Bloomfield - allegedly refused to stop after the officer activated his car’s emergency lights and siren, police stated.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop when it hit a curb in the area of Belmont Avenue and Franklin Street, according to police.
Espinosa “appeared to be intoxicated” at the time, according to police.

The responding officer also found Hydroxyzine and Xanax during a search of the vehicle, police said.
Authorities charged Espinosa with eluding, obstructing administration of law and CDS possession, and issued him multiple motor vehicle summons.
Emergency responders transported Espinosa to Mountside Hospital for further evaluation.
His bail was set at $50,000.
