Bloomfield Man’s Alleged Chair Attack On Home Intruder ‘Didn’t Occur’: Cops
A Bloomfield homeowner originally claimed that he bashed an intruder with a chair, sending him scampering away, police say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield resident wasn’t telling the truth when he claimed that he pulled a pro wrestling-style chair attack on a home intruder last month, authorities say.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the Broad Street resident originally called headquarters and told officers that a male suspect entered his home through an unlocked door around 10:08 p.m. on March 21.
The homeowner told police over the phone that he attacked the intruder with a dining room chair, shattering it in a professional wrestling-style move.

The intruder fled the scene onto Broad Street after his chair bashing, the homeowner told police.
However, after conducting a follow up investigation, Bloomfield police ended up charging the alleged victim with the 4th-degree crime of “reporting to law enforcement an offense knowing that it did not occur,” authorities stated.
