Bloomfield Man Shot While Sitting In Car, Paterson Police Say

A Bloomfield man was shot while sitting in a car on Ellison Street in Paterson, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield man was shot while sitting in a car on Ellison Street in Paterson early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers with the Paterson Police Department responded to Ellison Street around 1:40 a.m. after receiving a report about a gunshot. After arriving on the scene, officers weren’t able to locate a victim or crime scene, authorities said.

However, a short time later, police were notified that a 27-year-old Bloomfield resident was being transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson in a private car.

The victim was treated for a non-fatal gunshot wound at the hospital, according to a joint statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald.

“Based on the initial investigation, the victim was shot while sitting in a vehicle in the area of Ellison Street in Paterson,” authorities stated.
