Police Blotter: Aug. 24 to 31

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Bloomfield police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
8/24/2015 – Julian Green age 26 from Bloomfield was arrested at 8:59 p.m. by Anti-Crime Unit Officers Thomas Lutz and Matthew Popowicz on the lower end of Benson Street. During the motor vehicle stop the officers were allegedly verbally taunted by Green and despite their multiple requests to have him discontinue his public display of disorderly conduct he continued and was placed under arrest. Green was processed and released ROR with a court date pending.

8/24/2015 – A 2004 Nissan pick-up truck stolen in East Orange on 8/13/2015 was recovered on the lower end of Watsessing Avenue and two suspects were arrested. Bloomfield Officer Jonathan Donker was operating a police vehicle equipped with an ALPR (automated license plate reader) at 6:46 am, when he received an alert that the Nissan, which was traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue, was reported stolen. Officer Donker conducted a motor vehicle stop of the stolen vehicle and placed the two occupants under arrest. The suspects identified as, Jeyner Saborio age 44 from Newark and Edurdo Navarro age 35 also from Newark were both processed and charged with receiving stolen property. Navarro was released ROR with a court date pending by The Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone. Saborio was turned over to the custody of East Orange Police for an active warrant out of their jurisdiction.

8/24/2015 – A 2009 Hyundai had a driver’s side front tire slashed on Abington Avenue between N.17th Street and Ampere Parkway.
8/25/2015 – A 2008 Nissan and a 2002 Dodge had driver’s side front tires slashed on Abington Avenue between N.17th Street and Ampere Parkway.
8/25/2015 – Curtis Meeks age 22 from Rapid City, South Dakota, was arrested at 12:50 am by Officers Meljunn Pascua and Nicolae Toader, on the property of the Sunoco Gas Station located at 72 Bloomfield Avenue. Officer Pascua was investigating a vehicle parked illegally in a disabled parking space when he discovered a substance believed to be marijuana in Meeks’ possession and placed him under arrest. Meeks, who also had an active warrant out of Newark, was released with a court date pending after posting bail for his charges in Bloomfield and was released ROR by Newark PD.
8/25/2015 – Glendel Locus age 45 from Cranston, Rhode Island, was arrested at 2:12 pm by Detectives Jennifer Horn and Michael Volante, at 1 Municipal Plaza, The Bloomfield Police Department Law Enforcement Building. An investigation by Detective Horn, who was in court to testify in a case against Locus for a different matter, revealed an active $2,500 warrant out of Newark and he was placed under arrest before being able to testify on the initial matter. Locus was released with new court dates on both matters after posting bail for his Newark warrant.
8/26/2015 – Marc Robinson age 48 from Bloomfield, was arrested at 8:25 am by Officer Daniel Freitag in The Lackawanna Train Station. Officer Freitag was working a Walk and Ride, Quality of Life Special Detail discovered Robinson sleeping on a bench in the train station and conducted an investigation that led to the discovery of active warrants out of Bloomfield, $500 and Montclair, $194. Robinson was processed and released ROR for his Bloomfield warrant by The Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone and then turned over to the custody of Montclair PD.
8/26/2015 - A residence on the lower end of Willard Avenue was burglarized sometime between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. The victim reported that they left their residence only to return and discover that the rear door had been forced open. A large sum of cash and jewelry were reported stolen.
8/27/2015 – Robert Doeg, age 72, from Bloomfield, was arrested at 8:24 am by Officers Hector Nunez and Glen Capito on the property of 90 Broad Street, The Bloomfield Public Library. The officers, who had responded to an alarm activation at the library discovered Doeg on the property and conducted an investigation. Doeg was found to have numerous warrants out of multiple jurisdictions, totaling $11,458. Doeg was processed and released ROR for his active $500.00 Bloomfield warrant and was being detained pending the outcome of the rest of his warrants.
Editor’s Note: The Bloomfield Police Department has issued a correction for the above incident. The age of the arrested man was 72, not 41, as originally provided.
8/27/2015 – Ahmadulla Kahn age 26 from Linden, was arrested at 6:05 pm by Anti-Crime Unit Officers Sergeant Nicholas Polidoro and Luca Piscitelli on Watsessing Avenue. A motor vehicle stop of Kahn and the 2002 Honda motorcycle he was driving led to the discovery of an outstanding $100 warrant out of Jersey City. Kahn was processed and released ROR by Jersey City after being issued summonses in Bloomfield for driving on the sidewalk, reckless driving, improper passing, improper passing over a double yellow line and speeding.
8/28/2015 - A garbage dumpster valued at approximately $5,500 was stolen from under the NJ Garden State Parkway between Franklin Street and Bloomfield Avenue sometime between 8/22 and 8/28.
8/28/2015 – Naji Everett age 26 from Orange, was arrested by Officers Timothy Kealy and Nicholas Mauriello at 10:10 pm on the 600 block of Bloomfield Avenue. The officers responded to a call from a resident that an intruder had entered onto her property, came up onto her porch and when she confronted the suspect he verbally threatened her. The officers along with Sergeant Nicholas Polidoro and Officer Luca Piscitelli located the suspect and after a brief struggle took him into custody. Everett was processed and charged with Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest, Defiant Trespass, Possession of CDS, marijuana (under 50 grams) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released after posting bail which was set at $20,000 with a 10 percent cash option available by The Honorable Judge Vincent Pirone.
8/30/2015 – Rafael Rodriguez age 26 and Karime Acosta age 24, both from Newark, were arrested at 1:15 am by Officer Christian Alvarado and Detective Shonah Maldonado. The officers were investigating an illegally parked Uber livery car in a disabled parking space on the property of 72 Bloomfield Avenue, when they developed reason to believe that the passengers were in possession of a substance the believed was marijuana. An investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Rodriguez and Ms. Acosta who were processed and released ROR with court dates pending after being charged with possession of CDS, marijuana (under 50 grams).
8/30/2015 – Marc Fleurimond age 55 from West Orange, was arrested at 7:40 am on the lower end of State Street Officers Anthony Nardiello and Hector Cartagena. The officers were investigating a quality of life complaint when they discovered that Fleurimond had two active warrants out of Montclair, $250, and Millburn, $758. Fleurimond was processed and released ROR by both jurisdictions.
8/31/2015 – The manager of Simply Self Storage, located at 211 Grove Street, reported to police that a rented storage unit lock was cut and the unit was broken into. Further inspection of the unit by the owner revealed several items were stolen including an in dash radio, a television/DVD combo and an amplifier wiring kit. The value of the stolen property was estimated to be approximately $1,630.
8/31/2015 – A resident of Warren Street reported to police that the left front tire of her vehicle had been slashed.
