Bloomfield Memorial Day Travel Primer

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who plan to get away for Memorial Day weekend, get prepared.

A New York Times report is predicting “the worst Memorial Day traffic in 10 years” due to cheaper gas prices and travelers’ desires to get back outside after a particularly cold winter.

“Following a harsh winter, many Americans are trading in their snow boots for flip-flops and making plans to start the season with a vacation getaway,” Marshall L. Doney, the president of AAA, said in the report.

As of Thursday evening, the National Weather Service is predicting clear sunny skies for Saturday and Sunday, with a chance of showers on Memorial Day.

Here’s the local weather forecast from the NWS:

Friday: A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. West wind 7 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 68. Northwest wind 7 to 15 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 77.
