BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Authorities placed Bloomfield Middle School under a temporary lockdown on Wednesday afternoon due to an “incident near the school property,” district officials said.
Bloomfield Middle School Principal Alla Vayda-Manzo wrote a letter to parents on Wednesday about the lockdown:
“Under the directive of the Bloomfield Police Department, BMS was placed on lockdown due to an incident near the school property. The lockdown began around 11:40 a.m. and lasted approximately 30 minutes. The perimeter of the school and surrounding area have been secured and students returned to regular scheduled classes at 12:10 p.m. We are proud of student and staff conduct and cooperation during this precautionary measure. Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.”
