Bloomfield, Newark Teens Charged In Halloween Carjacking
Police have arrested a pair of teens from Bloomfield and Newark in connection with a Halloween carjacking. A third suspect remains at large.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police have arrested a pair of teens from Bloomfield and Newark in connection with a carjacking that took place on Halloween evening in Newark.
According to Newark police, a 22-year-old female victim told officers that she was carjacked by a man wearing a “metallic” mask around 7:15 p.m. as she was entering her car in the area of Hillside Avenue and West Bigelow Street.
The victim told police that the man pointed a gun at her and demanded that she hand over her car keys. He then took the keys and fled west on West Bigelow Street in her vehicle, a silver 2009 Toyota Matrix, authorities said.

Detectives with the Newark Police Special Enforcement Bureau (S.E.B.) later observed the stolen vehicle occupied by a driver and two passengers in the area of West Runyon and Jeliff avenues.
Ignoring police orders to stop, the driver and the three suspects exited the vehicle at Jeliff Avenue and fled on foot, authorities said.

After a chase, police later apprehended Samir Farrar, 18, of Bloomfield, and a 16-year-old juvenile from Newark. Both were arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest.
A third suspect remains at large, police stated Tuesday.
