Bloomfield Pedestrian Fatality: Porsche Hits 58-Year-Old Woman

A N.J. woman died after a car struck her as she crossed the street in Bloomfield a few minutes before midnight, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Newark woman died after a car struck her as she crossed the street in Bloomfield a few minutes before midnight on Monday, authorities say.

A Porsche Panamera struck Sylvia Santiago, 58, as she crossed the 200 block of Bloomfield Avenue in Bloomfield around 11:58 p.m., according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bloomfield Police Department.

The driver remained on the scene. No charges have been filed at this time, and the incident remains under investigation, police stated.
