Bloomfield Police: Attempted Burglary At Temple, 2 Other Burglaries

Someone burglarized a local home and a business. An attempted burglary took place at a local house of religion, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two burglaries and an attempted burglary were reported in Bloomfield over the past weeks, authorities say.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about the incidents:

Dec. 14 – “Officers responded to the area of Clinton Street on report of a burglary. After being away from Dec. 8 to Dec. 13, a resident noticed the window air conditioner was tampered with and it appeared someone had entered through it. The resident then noticed Bose headphones, a gray Champion sweatshirt and Christmas ornaments were missing from his home. This incident is under investigation.”

Dec. 22 – “Officers responded to 936 Broad Street (Temple Ner Tamid) on report of an attempted burglary. The complainant arrived at the temple at 8 a.m. and noticed a screen was taken off a window and the window was cracked. Upon review of surveillance video, the complainant observed that the prior evening at 8:38 p.m., a white U-Haul truck pulled up and a male attempted to open several doors to the building, but was unsuccessful in gaining entry. The male then picked up a rock and walked toward the area where the window damage was found. The male then entered the truck and fled the scene. This incident is under investigation.”

Dec. 22 – “Officers responded to 551 Broad Street (O’Boyle’s Nursery) on report of a burglary. According to the owner, his employees closed the store at 6 p.m. on Dec. 21. When he arrived the following morning, he noticed signs of forced entry to the front door and cash registers. Nothing appeared to be taken and the cash registers are regularly left empty upon closing. This incident is under investigation.”
