Bloomfield Police Find ‘Suspicious Package’ Only Contained Clothes

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police responded to a report of a “suspicious package” on Park Place around 10 a.m. on Oct. 3, but deemed the situation safe after discovering that it only contained clothing, authorities say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers found a black suitcase in a backyard hidden in the bushes. Members of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Unit inspected the suitcase, later deeming it safe and finding only clothes inside.

Police secured the suitcase in an attempt to identify the owner, authorities stated.
