BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Sometimes the bicycle is more powerful than the car.

The Bloomfield Division of Public Safety recently announced that it’s going to be ramping up the number of local cops on bike patrols. As of July, there are 13 officers undergoing the necessary certification to hit the streets on two wheels.

One advantage of bike patrols is that they’re often able to maneuver in tight spaces a patrol car can’t get to, Bloomfield police said.
