Bloomfield Prepares For Snowstorm: Parking, Garbage, Emergencies
Vehicles that are not moved from designated snow streets may be towed. Here's where you can put them, Bloomfield officials said.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield has begun battening down the hatches for a weekend snowstorm, town officials said Friday afternoon.
Weather forecasters are warning New Jersey residents about an ugly snowstorm expected to hit this weekend. Up to 18 inches of snow is predicted for some parts of the state; it's expected to arrive Friday evening into Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Bloomfield officials gave local residents an update on the town’s preparations Friday afternoon.
“With Bloomfield expected to get a significant amount of snow tonight into tomorrow, we are asking that residents stay off the roads if possible to avoid any potential accidents,” Mayor Michael Venezia said.

“We are also asking that residents remove their cars from the streets so that our plows can clear the snow,” he added.
Here are some things to know:
PARKING - The township is asking that residents remove their cars from the street by 7 p.m. on Friday in order to ensure that the streets can be properly plowed. Vehicles that are not moved from designated snow streets may be towed. Residents that need a place to park their cars may do so in any Bloomfield Public School lot or any recreation lot. Additionally, the Glenwood Garage will have fees suspended from 9 p.m. on Friday to noon on Saturday. "Please note there are limited parking spots available in the Glenwood Garage," officials said.
GARBAGE/RECYCLING - Because of the storm, garbage pickup for Saturday has been canceled and the recycling depot at the DPW will be closed.
EMERGENCIES - The Office of Emergency Management will be activated to take calls beginning at midnight related to this snowstorm and can be reached at 973-680-4177. For all other emergencies contact 911.
