Bloomfield Residents Leave Cars Running, Then They’re Stolen: Police

A Bloomfield resident left their car alone and running and it was stolen. Just three days later, it happened again, police say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield resident recently left their car alone and running and it was stolen. Just three days later, it happened again, police say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following two incidents took place in the township earlier this month:

  • Aug. 3 – “A 2010 Acura TL was reported stolen from the front of a residence on North 15th Street. The vehicle was left running while the owner was unloading groceries from the vehicle into the house. No description of suspects available.”
  • Aug. 6 – “A 2010 Toyota Corolla was reported stolen from the 200 block of Ampere Parkway. The vehicle was left running in the driveway with the keys in the ignition. The vehicle owner momentarily exited the vehicle and walked over to the front steps. A red vehicle was observed pulling next to the Toyota at which time a male exited the passenger side and got into the Toyota driving south on Ampere Parkway. Both vehicles fled the scene. Police are actively investigating the theft.”
