Bloomfield Road Still Closed 2 Days After Water Main Break
Repairs continue on a stretch of road in Bloomfield that was impacted by a water main break earlier this week, officials said Friday.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Repairs continue on a stretch of road in Bloomfield that was impacted by a water main break earlier this week, officials said Friday.
Bloomfield public safety officials initially announced the main break on Wednesday morning. Authorities closed JFK Drive north at Belleville Avenue to all traffic, advising drivers to find alternate routes to points heading north – including the Garden State Parkway.
In an update later that day, Bloomfield officials said that JFK Drive between Liberty Street and Hoover Avenue, as well as Belleville Avenue between Williamson and Liberty, were being closed due to the break.

The issues continued on Thursday, with JFK Drive north at Belleville Avenue remaining closed to traffic.
As of Friday morning, the section of road was still closed, according to the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety:

“Due to a water main break, JFK is still closed from Hoover Ave to Liberty St as well as Belleville Ave from Broad St to Williamson Ave. Officers are on scene directing traffic. Please plan an alternate route. We will update you with any changes.”
A Bloomfield town spokesperson told Patch on Friday the main has been repaired and all residents currently have water.
“We are now dealing with the roadway infrastructure that may have been impacted by the water runoff,” he said. “As soon as we have an updated timeframe, we will advise.”
