Bloomfield’s Ruby The Rabbit Gets New Home At Library

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Ruby the Rabbit has a new home at the Bloomfield Library.
Earlier this month, the Bloomfield Children’s Library received a special gift from local residents Richard Rockwell and Rodgee Cao: a deluxe, two-story rabbit house for permanent library resident, Ruby the Rabbit.
According to library staff, the donation will allow Ruby - a two-year-old ruby-eyed rabbit who was adopted by the Children’s Library in 2015 - to move from her previous cage to a “more comfortable and luxurious abode.”

Rockwell said that he was inspired to make a donation when he saw Ruby’s “dream house” on the Children’s Library Facebook page. The house features two stories with a bunny-friendly staircase, a quiet room for Ruby to “get away from it all,” and a flower box where librarian Shana Lynch said staff hopes to plant dandelions, Ruby’s favorite snack.
The rabbit is a particular favorite among local children, who can practice their reading skills on her because she “listens without judgement,” library staff said.
