Bloomfield School Budget Is Shaping Up: Here’s What To Know
Bloomfield public school officials are proposing a slight tax hike for homeowners as part of the 2022-23 budget.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Budget season has officially arrived for Bloomfield’s public school district.
Bloomfield school administrators are proposing a 2 percent tax levy increase as part of the 2022-23 budget. It would mean an increase of $29 per $100,000 in assessed value for the school portion of a local homeowner’s property taxes, administrators said.
Bloomfield district administrators released details about this year’s $150.42 million spending plan during a meeting on March 22. Watch the video below via WBMA-TV.

Property taxes in New Jersey are made up of three parts: school, municipal and county. Here's how that broke down in Bloomfield last year:
- School – 47.2%
- Municipal – 37.6%
- County – 15.2%
A public hearing and adoption of the 2022-23 Bloomfield Public School District budget is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26.
