Bloomfield, NJ – As North Jersey hunkers down for a possible nor’easter/snowstorm that forecasters say is “increasingly likely” to hit Friday afternoon, it’s helpful for local parents to brush up on what to do in event of a school snow day.

Here’s what the Bloomfield Public School District says to do for snow days, cancellations and delayed openings for the 2015-16 school year:

“All notifications of a change in the regular school day schedule due to weather conditions or other emergencies are made in the following manner,” the district website states.

  • VIA CODE RED PHONE CALL TO ALL DISTRICT FAMILIES. Parents should make sure their day and evening contact number is provided to their children’s school main office.
  • NOTICE POSTED ON THE HOMEPAGE OF THE BLOOMFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT WEBSITE at www.bloomfield.k12.nj.us

  • PSD/PSI Full Day at ECC @ FG 10:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • Transitional K at ECC@FG 10:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • K ABA at ECC@ FG 10:30 am to 3:20 pm (1/2 hr. lunch)
  • Elementary Schools 10:00 am to 3:20 pm
  • K ABA at Elementary Schools 10:30 am (Lunch Period Unchanged)
  • Middle School 10:00 am to 3:20 pm
  • High School 9:10 am to 2:35 pm
