Bloomfield Schools Have Unused Snow Days: Here’s The Plan
The Bloomfield school district is "giving back" three days off class to students and parents. Here's when they'll happen.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The Bloomfield Public School District is “giving back” three unused snow days to students and parents for 2023, administrators announced Thursday.
According to Superintendent Salvatore Goncalves, all Bloomfield schools will be closed on the following days:
- Friday, May 26
- Tuesday, May 30
- Monday, June 26
“It is customary for our school district to build extra days to meet the state-mandated requirement to be open for instruction and learning,” Goncalves wrote in a message to the community.

When these days are not used, schools may give these days “back” to students and staff, he added.
“Due to the lack of hazardous weather during the 2022-2023 school year, we were allowed to open our buildings for students and staff each day with essential coordination from our maintenance and custodial team,” Goncalves said. “With that, we have three ‘unused’ snow days we would like to give back as ‘days off.’”
