Bloomfield Schools Test For Lead In Water: See Results Here

Bloomfield, NJ – The tests are back, and although a pair of samples tested above the maximum contaminate level, there is “no public health threat” concerning lead in the Bloomfield School District’s water supply, administrators say.

According to a Thursday memo from school administrators:

“We have received our testing results for lead levels in our drinking water from the Bloomfield Health Department. A total of fifty-six (56) samples were taken from all 14 sites within the district. All samples came back below the maximum contaminate levels allowed by state and federal regulations; with the exception, of a kitchen sink (not used for food preparation or child consumption) at the ECC and a drinking fountain at the Administration Building. The water fountain at the Administration Building has been shut down and will be removed. The kitchen sink at the ECC has been shut down and will be remediated at the recommendation of the Bloomfield Health Department.”

These results indicate there is “no public health threat,” school administrators stated.

The tests were conducted by Garden State Laboratories on March 27 and March 31. A copy of the results are available in the Business Administrators Office for review, as well as electronically through the district website.
