Bloomfield Mayor Jenny Mundell and the Township Council announce an upcoming initiative to fill vacant positions on various Boards and Committees. Starting this week, the Township will begin advertising and accepting letters of interest and resumes from residents who are eager to make a difference in their community by serving on these vital advisory bodies.

This effort underscores the mayor and council’s commitment to fostering civic engagement and transparency, ensuring that opportunities for service are extended to a broader and more diverse group of constituents. By participating in Boards and Committees, residents have the chance to serve their community while representing the various perspectives and interests that make up our town.

Mayor Mundell encouraged all residents to consider applying, stating: "Bloomfield thrives when we work together and bring diverse voices to the table. Our Boards and Committees play an essential role in shaping the efforts that impact our daily lives. This is an incredible opportunity for residents to share their talents, ideas, and expertise in service to our community. I strongly encourage everyone to get involved and help us continue building a more inclusive and dynamic Bloomfield."

Applications will be accepted until December 20, 2024. You can apply online at https://ow.ly/X1Tn50Um5Jp or submit your application by mail to the Mayor’s Office at 1 Municipal Plaza, Bloomfield, NJ. Be sure to include a letter of interest and your current resume.

All applications will be reviewed in preparation for committee appointments in January. Please note decisions to appoint may differ by committee and be made by the Mayor directly or by the Township Council.

There are current openings on the following committees and boards: Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, Beautification Committee, Board of Health, CATV Program Committee, Civil & Human Rights Commission, Environmental Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Juneteenth Holiday Advisory Committee, Morris Canal Greenway Committee, Open Space Trust Fund, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs Committee, Planning Board, Public Library Board of Trustees, Recycling Committee, Zoning Board of Adjustments.
