Bloomfield Singer and Educator Gets Tony Award Nomination
Corinna Sowers Adler gets nod for first-ever "Excellence in Theatre Education Award."

If you’re a Bloomfield resident who watches the Tony Awards, you’ll have one of your own to cheer on June 7.
New York cabaret singer and Bloomfield resident Corinna Sowers Adler recently received a nomination for the organization’s first “Excellence in Theatre Education Award.”
According to the Tony Awards’ website, the new award is dedicated to theater education professionals who discover, nurture and inspire talented students.

According to a release, Adler is a graduate of Wilkes University and has been directing productions, teaching theater classes and providing vocal instruction to students for the past 15 years. She was the director of theater for the Wilkes University Conservatory for 10 years, and was the children’s theater director for the Pocono Playhouse and Bucks County Playhouse for four years before moving to New Jersey.
Adler currently is the founding artistic director of NiCori Studios and Productions, which is housed at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center. She is also the executive director of Gas Lamp Academy of Performing Arts, in Glen Ridge.

As a performer, Adler recently received a “Best Female Vocalist” nomination from the 2014 BroadwayWorld Awards. She has performed at many top venues in New York City, including 54 BELOW and Lincoln Center.
Adler will be performing her next solo cabaret show, “High Standards,” at the Metropolitan Room on Monday, June 15 at 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m.
