Bloomfield ‘Southern Kitchen And Saloon’ Set For Limited Menu Opening

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — If you’ve been meaning to take a peak at what soon-to-open “Southern kitchen and saloon” The Wooden Spoon at 285 Glenwood Avenue has to offer, this weekend is your chance, Bloomfield.

According to a social media post from the Bloomfield Center Alliance, The Wooden Spoon is opening at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 21 with a limited menu.

The restaurant’s website says that executive chef and proprietor Donald “Junior” was born in New England and raised in New Jersey.

“Erickson began his culinary career at a young age working in the back kitchens of local eateries,” the restaurant states. “After fraduating high school, Erickson continued his education in Northern New England. Early on, he worked jobs as a butcher, commercial fisherman, as well as a farm hand. All of the experiences helped develop and expand his knowledge and established the roots of his passion for cooking… Erickson held duel management roles as Executive Chef & General Manager of Stage House Tavern in Somerville, NJ, before partnering with Brian Costello to begin his next chapter, the creation of The Wooden Spoon - Southern Kitchen & Saloon in Bloomfield.”
