Bloomfield Student Arrested, Brought BB Gun To School: Police
Bloomfield police received an anonymous tip via their TIP411 app about a "potentially dangerous situation" happening at the high school.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Police arrested a 19-year-old Bloomfield High School student after he was allegedly seen flashing a BB gun in the school cafeteria earlier this week, authorities said.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers received an anonymous tip via their TIP411 app about a “potentially dangerous situation” happening at the high school on Tuesday. The informant told officers that there was a student "flashing what appeared to be a Glock handgun in the cafeteria."
After receiving the tip, a small group of Bloomfield officers arrived at the school and arrested Angel Perdomo, 19, without incident. Police subsequently found that the alleged Glock handgun in Perdomo’s possession was really a BB gun, authorities said. (See above photo)

Authorities charged Perdomo with unlawful possession of a firearm in an educational facility.
“Our Youth Aid Division officers proved what a true resource they are to the entire community,” Director of Public Safety Samuel DeMaio said. “Their division works tirelessly, every day, to develop relationship with our students. These partnerships are invaluable, and likely lead to students feeling comfortable leaving anonymous tips about concerning incidents like what happened [on Tuesday].”

DeMaio said that fortunately, Tuesday’s incident didn’t involve a “deadly weapon,” but added that he is “proud that our officers conducted themselves in a way to ensure everyone’s safety regardless of what type of weapon it was.”
The Bloomfield crime tip app, TIP411, launched in April 2017. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices in their respective app stores and can be found by searching “Bloomfield PD.” To submit a tip via text message, text BLOOMFIELDPD and a tip to 847411, authorities said.
