BLOOMFIELD, NJ — It’s perhaps the most-known school experiment next to making a volcano out of baking soda and vinegar… the egg drop.

“The final project for Algebra I CR was to create a box to protect two eggs from a fall over the balcony to the lobby. Students came up with several different ideas and constructed their boxes accordingly. One box was created with protruding straws on the sides so as to absorb the impact when it hit the floor. There were several successful drops from the second, third, and fourth floors to the lobby below. Justin Crato, Luis Cruz, Tyquan Gavins, Jeremy Gonzalez, Nasir Gray, Daniel Hunter, Shamar Joseph, and Jessica Leacock all had successful drops. Mr. Bennette [was the] instructor.”
