Bloomfield Teen Arrested At Drew University, Assaulted Officers: Police

The Bloomfield teen allegedly allegedly went door-to-door in a dorm building claiming to have a gun, police said.

A Drew University student and Bloomfield resident was arrested this weekend after he allegedly went door-to-door in a dorm building claiming to have a gun then assaulting police officers during his arrest, Madison Police said in a statement.

Liam Kealy, 18, of Bloomfield, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning after arguing with other students and claiming to have a handgun.

A witness told police that Kealy knocked on random dorm room doors, picking fights and saying he had a gun. Police secured the building, and found Kealy on the second floor with no handgun, authorities said.

Kealy allegedly did not go quietly: while being taken to the Madison Police Department for processing, he damaged the inside of the patrol car by kicking, authorities said.

Police described Kealy as "unruly and belligerent" during the booking process, and said he struck and spit on three officers. One officer sustained an elbow injury, but refused treatment.

Kealy was charged with three counts of 4th degree Aggravated on a Police Officer, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting Arrest. He was held on $50,000 bail in Morris County Jail.
