Bloomfield Township Administrator Matthew Watkins Elected Secretary of New Jersey Municipal Management Association
Statewide professional organization serves managers in local government

Bloomfield Township Administrator Matthew Watkins has been elected secretary of the New Jersey Municipal Managers Association (NJMMA) for 2017. The professional organization offers training, education and peer support to hundreds of professional managers in local government throughout New Jersey.
Watkins was appointed as Bloomfield’s administrator in 2015 after previously serving as Clifton city manager and South Brunswick Township manager. His government service also includes stints on the Governor’s Local Government Ethics Task Force, as a commissioner on the N.J. Public Employment Relations omission and director of the Division of Local Government Services in the N.J. Department of Community Affairs. He also has been the administrator for the City of Burlington, Barnegat Township and Delran Township.
Originally from Oklahoma, Watkins holds a master’s degree in public administration from Rutgers-Newark. He has been a guest lecturer in labor relations and personnel issues at Rutgers.
