Bloomfield Traffic Stop Ends In Gun, Marijuana Arrests

The Bloomfield police traffic stop began when a Nissan "carelessly" pulled out of the 7-Eleven parking lot on Bloomfield Avenue, police say.

Bloomfield, NJ – A recent Bloomfield police traffic stop ended in two arrests for weapon and marijuana possession, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers observed a black Nissan “carelessly” pulling out of the 7-Eleven gas station parking lot at Bloomfield Avenue and Ampere Parkway around 2:44 a.m. on May 10.

The two officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Tunbridge Place, with a second unit soon arriving on scene, police stated.

During the stop, officers saw a loaded, .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in the front passenger seat pocket “in plain view.”

Police then secured the weapon and arrested the car’s occupants, Felix Rodriguez, 22, and Jeffrey Penarodriguez, 24, both of Bloomfield.

A further check of the vehicle led to the recovery of 30 small bags of marijuana, police said.

Both occupants were charged accordingly and held in lieu of bail set at $150,000 full with no 10 percent option, police said.
