Bloomfield Traffic Stops Lead To Drug Arrests
They began with a traffic-related stop… and then narcotics were found.

Bloomfield, NJ – They began with a traffic-related stop… and then narcotics were found.
That was the modus operandi during several arrests that recently took place in Bloomfield, police reported.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents took place in the township:

- On Jan. 26, police arrested a 21-year-old Newark resident and a 21-year-old Belleville man after allegedly observing a green Subaru parked in a crosswalk. On further investigation, officers allegedly smelled the odor of “raw marijuana,” leading to the discovery of CDS in the car.
- On Jan. 28, police arrested a 24-year-old Belleville man for CDS possession after conducting a motor vehicle stop near Bloomfield Avenue and Ampere Parkway due to “equipment violations.” During the stop, officers found two empty glassine envelopes with a “white, powdery residue” believed to heroin, along with a cut straw.
- On Jan. 29, police arrested a 28-year-old Rahway resident and a 24-year-old Newark man for numerous narcotic violations after stopping a grey Honda with allegedly illegal tinted windows. During the stop, officers allegedly smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the car, and later found several bags of marijuana, a clear plastic bag containing eight glassine envelopes of suspected heroin and two green plastic bags containing suspected crack-cocaine.
- On Jan. 29, police arrested a 34-year-old Passaic resident and a 36-year-old Paterson man after receiving an alert via the department’s Info-Cop system about an active warrant for the owner of an allegedly improperly parked Lexus on Chester Avenue. During a motor vehicle stop, officers found a “rolled marijuana cigarette in plain view,” as well as a lunch box containing five “medium zip lock bags and one small zip lock bag containing suspected marijuana.”
