Bloomfield Woman Identified As Newark Shooting Victim
Police are investigating a quadruple shooting that claimed a Bloomfield woman's life and injured three others.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Authorities are investigating a quadruple shooting that claimed a Bloomfield woman's life and injured three others in Newark on Monday.
Newark police officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 700 block of South 19th Street around 5:45 p.m., finding two males and a female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported all three victims to University Hospital, where the female was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated.
Prosecutors later identified the deceased woman as Shirlena Coke, 22, of Bloomfield.

A fourth victim – a male – later admitted himself to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston with a gunshot wound. Police determined that this victim was also shot on South 19th Street, prosecutors said.

All three men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, prosecutors said.
The identities of the male victims are being withheld for “security reasons,” prosecutors said.
