Bloomfield Woman May Lose Car Due To Alleged Police Miscommunication

Report: Recovered car alert slips through the cracks.

A lapse in communication may end up costing a Bloomfield woman her car.

Jolie Higazi’s car was stolen on Orange Avenue on July 16 and found the next day in Newark, CBS New York reported.

But allegedly, news of her car’s recovery never filtered down to Higazi, who now owes more than $800 in storage fees to the towing company that has been holding her vehicle for the past few weeks.

According to Higazi, the Essex County Sheriff’s Department told her that they informed the Bloomfield Police Department immediately after finding the car.

But Bloomfield police said that they never got the message, charges Higazi.

In the meanwhile, she’s left footing the bill.

The car may eventually be sold at auction if she is unable to pay the fees by Aug. 17, Higazi told CBS New York.
