Bloomfield Woman Robbed In Driveway: Police

A man allegedly grabbed a Bloomfield woman's purse as she stood in her driveway, then fled the scene in a car stolen out of Irvington.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A man allegedly grabbed a Bloomfield woman’s purse as she stood in her driveway, then fled the scene in a car stolen out of Irvington last week, police say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to a home on North 13th Street on Jan. 18 after receiving a report about a robbery. The victim told officers that she had pulled into her driveway and was taking items out of her car when a stranger grabbed her purse.

The man then got into a burgundy-colored, Mercury Villager with New Jersey registration R71JMR, which police later discovered was reported stolen out of Irvington.

The victim described the suspect as a light-complexioned black male about 5 feet 9 inches, wearing a black coat with a black hat and a colored scarf that covered his face, police said.
