Bloomfield Workers Cleaning Catch Basins As Flood Watch Continues

The Bloomfield DPW has several crews out cleaning catch basins in "low-lying, flood prone areas," officials said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield officials are advising residents to batten down the hatches as a flash flood watch takes place in the North Jersey area.

The township is under a Flash Flood Watch until Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said Essex County could be hit with as much as 2 to 4 inches of rain early this week. "Please be advised [the DPW] has several crews out already cleaning catch basins in the low-lying, flood prone areas," Bloomfield officials said Monday evening.

"Do not drive on flooded roadways," Bloomfield officials added. "Do not park your vehicle on any roads or lots that are prone to flooding. Continue to monitor the weather forecasts. For any emergencies call 911. For non-emergency issues, please call 973-680-4141."
