FREE SWIM PROGRAM AT THE YMCA OF MONTCLAIR TEACHES WATER SAFETY

As a service to the community, the YMCA of Montclair is offering Summer Splash Week, a FREE week-long Begin to Swim Program for children (ages 6-11) and adults from June 17-June 20.

Summertime means pool time for many children and adults. It’s also a time when many people drown. The statistics are shattering. Drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional death for children under age 14.

Will you and your child be prepared? As a service to the community, the YMCA of Montclair is offering Summer Splash Week, a week-long Begin to Swim Program for children (ages 6-11) and adults. The program is FREE after a $5 registration fee. It runs from June 17-June 20.

Splash Week is taught by certified swim instructors. Each class includes a 30 minute swim/safety lesson. It’s designed for those with little or no swim experience and held at the Y’s Park Street facility.

“Swimming is a fun and enjoyable activity for children and adults alike, and it’s an easy way to stay physically active and improve strength, flexibility and stamina,” said Sam Hassan, Senior Aquatic Director, YMCA of Montclair. “The Y encourages all children and adults to learn how to swim. It’s never too late. Basic swimming skills and water safety practices save lives every day.”

For more information about Splash Week or to register, you can download the following brochure: http://mycdn.montclairymca.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Summer-Splash-Week-2013.pdf

Bring the completed form and $5 to the front desk at the YMCA of Montclair, 25 Park Street in Montclair, to register.
