With The Second Half Of The Season Underway, The N.Y. Jets Continue To Struggle
New York Jets look to rebound after struggling in first nine games
The second half of the season is now underway for the New York Jets but they have already gotten off to a slow start.
The 3-6 Jets are looking to rebound and improve their season especially after falling to division rivals. Not only have the Jets fallen within the AFC East standings but the season has also consisted of too many injuries. Within just the first half of the season the Jets have lost many of their key players such as Darrell Revis and Santonio Holmes.

Besides the troubles with injuries, statistics haven’t looked so good either. As a team their currently ranked as the number 24 defense in the league. They’ve also been playing poorly on offense as they rank in 24th.

If the statistics as a team haven’t looked good neither has the stats for their quarterback. In just the first half of the season Mark Sanchez has not been at the top of his game. In nine games Sanchez has thrown 153 for 294, for a 52 percent of his passes completed. Sanchez also has nine interceptions and has been sacked 21 times in just nine games.
Sanchez’s performance is far from what fans saw him do in his first two seasons with the team, seasons that featured back to back playoff appearances. If things don't change soon the comparisons between Sanchez and back up quarter Tim Tebow will never end and Tebow time will approach.
As a team the Jets have not been able to escape drama and it seems to follow them as time goes on. Ever since the late 2011 season blow up with Holmes, things haven’t been right as the team continues to slack. In just the first half of the season there were games in which too many missed opportunities have just passed them by.
The second half of the season is supposed to be a fresh start for a team that has been struggling since their high scoring season opener. The Jets haven’t been able to repeat that same type of performances from week one due to their challenges with several teams. They haven’t shown that same confidence and emotion since week one as well.
Seattle was the first stop in the second half of the season, the first of many remaining challenges for the team. Coming off fresh from the bye week things did not go so well for gang green.
As Thanksgiving approaches a rematch against division rival New England and a chance to redeem themselves within the division is what the Jets are looking for. They had the chance to beat their main rival but missed on several opportunities in the first game as well as in several others.
Post season seems like a far and distant dream but it can be reached if the Jets pick it up heading into the remaining games of the season.
