Car Fatally Strikes Woman In Bloomfield; Driver Remained At Scene: PD

A woman died after a car struck her in Bloomfield on Friday night, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- A woman died after a car struck her in Bloomfield on Friday night, authorities said.

The fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision took place around 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Grove Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Bloomfield Police Department.

The pedestrian, Nelly Fernandez, 60, of Bloomfield, was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, authorities said. No arrests have been made.
