Car Stolen In Bloomfield, 2 Attempted Vehicle Thefts: Police

A resident left her vehicle parked while she went to pick up food at a nearby restaurant. When she returned, it was gone, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two attempted car thefts and a vehicle theft were reported in Bloomfield last week, authorities said Wednesday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:

Oct. 9 – “Officers responded to the 100 block of Walnut Street on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle in his driveway overnight and when he returned the following morning, he noticed it was rummaged through and the steering column was damaged. A backpack with a wallet containing $800 and credit cards was missing from the vehicle. This incident is under investigation.”

Oct. 12 – “Officers responded to Bloomfield Avenue and Chester Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident left her vehicle parked while she went to pick up food at Chopstick House. When she returned, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a white 2022 Acura MDX, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Oct. 13 – “Officers responded to the 300 block of Franklin Street on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident went to her vehicle and noticed the driver side window broken and a USB charging cable attached to her ignition. There was nothing reported missing from the vehicle at this time. This incident is under investigation.”
