Car Theft, Multiple Thefts From Autos Reported In Bloomfield
BPD: A car was stolen when its owner left it running outside of a local business. Several people reported thefts from their vehicles.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several crimes involving motor vehicles were reported in Bloomfield last week, authorities say.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township.
April 12 - A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a theft from auto. The resident parked her vehicle in the area of Edgewood Road at approximately 3 a.m. Someone entered her vehicle and took a Bose speaker, MacBook Pro, and numerous other electronic items valued at $5,075. The theft incident is under investigation.

April 16 - Officers responded to the area of Newark Avenue on report of a theft from auto. The theft occurred on April 8, but the resident did not realize his tools were missing until he needed them on April 16. The resident checked his surveillance camera and on April 8, observed a male suspect operating a silver minivan, tampering with the locks on back door of the van. The suspect then opens the doors and removes several construction tools valued at $5,000. The theft is under investigation.
April 16 - Officers responded to 382 Bloomfield Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner double parked his vehicle outside of the tax business for five minutes and upon returning, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle is a 2009 gray Nissan Altima. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. The theft is under investigation.

April 17 - Officers responded to the area of Llewellyn Avenue on report of a theft from auto. A resident parked his vehicle in his driveway on April 16 at approximately 11 a.m. Upon returning to it at 1 p.m., he noticed the interior was rummaged through. A woman’s wallet containing $50, a driver’s license and credit cards were missing from the center console. The owner of the vehicle was not sure if the vehicle was left unlocked. This theft is under investigation.
