Construction On Bloomfield Parking Garage Resumes Monday

The construction of the second Bloomfield Parking Garage, which began in April, will continue on Monday, July 1.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The construction of the second Bloomfield Parking Garage – which began in April – will continue on Monday, July 1, officials announced.

According to a township news release, through traffic will be closed to Washington Street between Lackawanna Place and Farrand Street and closed to Ward Street. Left turns from Ward Street onto Farrand Street will not be permitted during the day.

The township has rented LED flashing signage boards to notify traffic that Farrand Street will be closed on Monday. The signs have been posted on the no through traffic streets. An updated map with closure information will be posted on the township municipal website and the township mobile app.

Bloomfield officials said the project, Lackawanna Station, will bring 174 new residential units and a new parking garage which will create 314 total parking spaces, of which the township will have access to more than 200 shared spaces.

The Bloomfield Police Department, which oversees parking and traffic updates in town, has met with the developer and construction company several times and made routes adjustments to minimize inconvenience to pedestrians and accommodate local delivers to businesses, officials stated.
