Cops: Three Women Punched in Face During Street Fight

A Bloomfield man was arrested for allegedly punching three women in the face during a brawl in Hoboken.

Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to a report of a “large street fight” in the area of Third and Washington streets, finding a crowd of twenty people “pushing and shoving one another.”

Police also found a female victim lying motionless on the ground with a large abrasion on her forehead.

Police reported that a witness on the scene stated that he saw a group of females yelling at a man later identified as Xavier Romero, 23, of Bloomfield. The witness told police that he saw Romero turn around and punch one of the females in the face, knocking her to the ground.

According to police reports, Romero also punched two other females during the melee.

The cause of the argument is unknown, stated police.

Police arrested Romero and transported him to headquarters, where he was charged with aggravated assault and two counts of simple assault.
